LOH: David Spangler
My sense of self importance was shaken when David suggested that some of the non-physical beings might not care that I’m here and I’m physical!
Incarnational Spirituality
We can have relationships with non-physical beings as David did with John, a teacher & mentor for him for many years. He also gave a wonderful example of how the renowned gardens in Findhorn could exist in inhospitable environs with the co-creative forces from the non-physical realms and “release miraculous capacities”.
There are 3 main zones of reality that David has identified:
- Incarnational: physical, mental, emotinal, energetic
- Hyper-Dimensional or Higher Order: hard to wrap our minds around… unknown upper limit
- Transitional: many layers, bringing together the Incarnational and Higher Order zones
There is a necessarily subjective nature to all spiritual explorations because the objects of our observation always need to be through our eyes. We have our glamour (which I found out as in his example of marriage, isn’t all bad) and we are the center of our perceptual universe… but there is an interesting balance between: the seduction of significance & being containers for Spirit.
David does not see the ecological layers as hierarchical. There are 2 considerations for non-physical as well as physical contact so you will more easily know what you are seeing and experiencing:
- The subtle energy of contact
- The substance of contact
It was interesting to find out that David doesn’t consider these realms a spiritual issue or religious issue, but an ecological issue of co-existing and co-creating for the betterment of existence and how we participate in the wholeness of the world.
Thank you David, for walking us through an exercise for self honor and appreciation!

Dear Roxanne,
You are welcome! I looked at your website and saw your beautiful picture at the bottom. Lovely!
Warmly, Nina
I’ve been reading David Spangler’s books for years and just finished taking one of his online courses (excellent and beautiful value for the price), so he was not new to me – and yet he was, because I was listening to his voice and hearing him through the ears of people who might be meeting him for the first time. What struck me is the simple brilliance of his teaching. That, combined with his astonishing humility*, can almost undermine the profundity of what he teaches, which is all about empowering the student in quite amazing ways… but always, always through simplicity and love.
I came away thinking, “These elements are what I trust. They are the future – or, perhaps more appropriately, they are what remind us of the truths we may have forgotten.”
I am seeing more and more teachers and techniques lately which are quite reasonably priced, generously shared, and clearly steeped in the power of love. I am coming to trust these “signs” as proper direction markers: Yes, dear soul, come this way. The hard work has been done. You don’t need a miracle worker; you are the miracle.
What did I learn~ I learned to remember how to connect with the subtle world and the importance of considering and engaging the subtle realms when making decisions about my personal environment.
What I have done~ I signed up for David’s newsletter and have been engaging in sending healing, helpful energy to the subtle beings that are being affected by the continuing oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. I appreciated the perspective of allowing grief, but to drop anger and to understand the long view held by these enrgies and to be supportive.
Dear Roxanne,
Thank you for your comments. Your vision and focus seem far reaching and heart-felt.
Warmly, Nina
Dear Victoria,
I really like your comments about listening anew. So often we seek new information when listening with fresh ears can be equally valuable.
I love your blog, by the way.
Great perspective with great writing!
With a smile, Nina
