LOH: Raphael Cushnir
His life crashed down personally and professionally and he felt that he had nothing left to lose by trying a new approach. This is now his life’s mission.
Surfing Your Inner Sea
It seems like a pretty straight forward approach and yet there seems to be several layers to several aspects of Raphael’s work.
A couple of brief points in his philosophy include:
- Feel first, think later
- If you can feel it fully, it doesn’t need to persist
- Honesty & awareness in our emotional presence takes courage
This kind of Emotional Presence isn’t always easy in the face of some big challenges: Compulsions, Anxiety, Addictions, Unworthiness, Depression… With a process, it’s way easier. Raphael described a couple of techniques:
- His 2 x 2 process
- The Done Deal Delay
- The process of physically feeling sensation (and how that can change the definition of an emotion like ‘sadness’)
To do with that, there was an interesting comment on the nature of FREEDOM. How controlled are we if we are forever avoiding pain and chasing joy? It is an interesting consideration that the suppressed, ignored, avoided emotions end up being the biggest controllers in our life, whether we know it or not.
What if we could just surf the emotional waters? What are the results?
- Enhanced intuition (as opposed to conditioned life responses)
- Emotional maturity
- Increased rich appreciation of Life
… More on this Awareness… It’s not just noticing, it’s a Field that is bigger than us. When asked about the dynamic of the microscopic and this broad field of Awareness, he expanded on the sameness of Inner Space and Outer Space. It is the going within process that allows you to feel more connected with the vastness. This field is as big as we need it to be to support our emotional process.
